Viking Homes Presentation

Viking longhouse
  • Most viking families lived in the same longhouse.
  • Vikings ate, worked and slept in the same longhouse.
  • Vikings found wood to make the longhouse.
  • The main hall was just over 12 metres long.
  • The fire was in the middle of the hall.
  • There was a dairy in the hall.
  • A longhouse was 5 to 7 meters wide and up to 30 meters long.
  • The head of the longhouse had a special chair called a high chair.
  • The benches around the room were used for seats and beds.
  • The floor was covered with reeds and herbs
