Pirates Visit Witherlea School!

Captain Swiftknife
By Mackenzie Taylor

Captain Swiftknife is a sword swinging pirate. He has a very strange voice,  in fact he says, “Me,” instead of, “I.” Now that is strange indeed.
Black Eel, the fastest ship in the sea, belongs to the craziest and creepiest pirate in the ocean, Captain Swiftknife.

The captain jumped into the class and gave us a big fright. The crazy pirate has a long deep blue vest that comes down to his bottom. Also on the front of his shiny vest he has a few golden buttons, some of which had been torn off when he jumped into the freezing cold water because his first mate, Shark Bait, turned against him and threatened to slice his head off if he didn't walk the plank!

On his chest, stiting there, is a frilly under coat of white. On the top of his hat, ripped, an old rag that had been there since, well, I don't know. The black hat sits on the head of the one and only Captain Swiftknife. If you were there when he jumped into the class room you would think that he was hiding something when he said the words, "I'm nice to you guys but not to Shark Bait, my enemy, he was my first mate." But why would he say that to us because he never knew us before the captain scared the life out of us?

Captain Swiftknife
by Joshua Clamp

Captain Swiftknife is the captain of a ship called the Black Eel. He has a pitch black vest with white lines on it. His black and gold hat has tattered braid on it. Captain Swiftknife wears long black pants that are tucked into his boots. His voice is very loud and he speaks old fashioned words. He shouts so much because he is used to yelling at his crew of stinky men. He has always been chasing his enemy Shark Bait. The brainy pirate is skillful with a sword and doesn’t run away from his enemy. On his dirty face he has a wicked grin as if he’s hiding something. If you were unlucky enough to confront the Black Eel, you would be trembling from head to foot with fear.

The eye of the storm By Zoe Francis

I am trying to contact earth. I am being chased by another dragon trainer. I have the rarest dragon in practically the whole world and I am trying to release it back into the eye of the storm. Me and the creature have been traveling for several weeks. I detest this place very much. I am spooked. If you knew what I'm in, you would understand. I am in pitch black and I am getting forced to throw away my only connection with Earth: All my photos of my family are getting tossed into a green fog which powers my ship. If I meet anything, a plane or something, they would kill me. I look very peculiar with my huge goggles; anyone would mistake me for a alien. I think my dragon is getting uneasy as I walk along the narrow beam and I start looking down. I Imagine what it would feel like plummeting down. When I get to the end I give my dragon a loving pat. As I walk towards the wheel I look straight ahead and then I start thinking, “Woah the other dragon hunter must be right behind me.” I look behind and sure enough there he is gaining speed. I run to where the frightening green mist is and I grab the only thing left. I know I'm directly over my house. I have one final look at the photos of the family I may never see again; it kills me to throw it over the side of my ship. But I look at the bright side, I am only a couple of days from the eye of the storm. I walk to were the map is and put my gadget onto it and mark the rest of my journey. I suddenly feel a sudden jerk of the ship and sprint to the controls. The worst part of my adventure: the heart of the storm, always pulsing and blowing terrifying gusts of wind. I grab the wheel and turn it as hard as I can. The ship only just misses the inside of the storm. Nobody ever comes out of there, they just carry on turning round and round. I quickly look round before I come tumbling down and the floor meets me. I get up and look round. I wonder how long I have been out and then I see it the eye of the storm!
Welcome to Room 13's Blog. This will be a place where we can celebrate the wonderful work done by the children in Room 13.
