Experiments with Sound
Over the last couple of weeks we have done lots of different things with sound with Room 12. We have found out about what is inside the ear, how is sound made, and can sound go through things.
Many thanks to Miss Stringer for sharing these fantastic photo collages with us.

Persausive letters
We read the fabulously funny book "The Day the Crayons Quit" and then wrote persuasive letters to try to convince one of the crayons to come back!

Room 16 updated photo!
I took advantage of having the whole class at school, on one day last week, to take an updated class photo, so that Grace will have a photo to remember us all by, when she leaves to go to her new school in Nelson at the end of next week. Grace has been a fantastic member of our class and we are really going to miss her.

Kazoo Making
Today we made Kazoos with plastic straws! We discovered that we could change the pitch by changing the length of the straw.

Bottles and Jars...
With our friends in R12 this week we have been looking at if the amount of water, the shape, and size affect the sound glass jars and bottles make when they are tapped. We found that they do change the sound as well as what we tapped the jars and bottles with and where we tapped them. Thanks Miss Stringer for taking Room 16 for this fun learning activity.

New Topic for Term 2!
We were excited to be starting our new Topic "Sound" and to be learning and discovering with Room 12 for the whole of Term 2. We began the topic with a challenge to identify sounds - which was harder than it first seemed! Thanks to Miss Stringer for sharing these photos with us.
